Tacony Street is closing at night for the next two weeks, so plan around it if you drive through Tacony after dark.

From Monday, November 2 through Friday, November 13, Tacony Street will be closed and detoured between Aramingo Avenue and Bridge Street from 7 PM to 5 AM on weeknights. The closure is for overhead bridge construction tied to the I-95 rebuild.

Northbound drivers will be directed to use Aramingo/Harbison Avenue and turn right onto Bridge Street to get back to Tacony Street. Southbound drivers will turn right onto Bridge Street and then left onto Aramingo/Harbison Avenue to reach Tacony Street.

I-95 itself is affected too. From Monday, November 2 through Friday, November 6, a lane closure will be in place on northbound I-95 between Ann Street and Wheatsheaf Lane from 9 PM to 5 AM for drainage grate repairs.

And the squeeze on Tacony Street is not just at night. Southbound Tacony Street is reduced to one lane between Bridge Street and Van Kirk Street through late 2027 for I-95 construction.

The work is part of PennDOT’s I-95/BS2 project, which will reconstruct I-95 in both directions between Margaret Street and Carver Street.

All scheduled activities are weather dependent. PennDOT advises drivers to allow extra time when traveling near the work area or along the detour route, because backups and delays will occur.

One note for anyone who saw an older notice floating around: a PennDOT release about a single night closure on Tuesday, November 4, from 12 AM to 5 AM is from 2025, not this year. In 2026, November 4 is a Wednesday, and the closure in effect is the weeknight pattern above.
